Safe and Natural Cleaning

If you’re like I used to be, you have so many bottles of different types of cleansers that it’s hard to find what you’re looking for. Cleansers for countertops, stoves, floors, sinks and tubs—there’s a different cleanser for everything! You spend a lot of money on these items, too. You can replace all those different cleaners and their toxicity with just a few natural items and still get all the cleaning power you need.
In the Kitchen
You can make your own all-purpose cleaner for all your kitchen needs with just a few ingredients. All you need is a spray bottle, a teaspoon of baking soda, two tablespoons of white vinegar, and ½ teaspoon of dishwashing soap. Once those ingredients are in the bottle, shake it a bit and wait for the mixture to settle down. Then add warm water and you have a great, natural cleanser that does as good or better a job as the poisons you buy from the store. You can add essential oil to the mix if you like so your kitchen will smell nice.
Cleaning your stove isn’t something you like to do and you probably set aside an hour to get it done, especially if there is baked on spots you’ll have to scrub. You can cut your cleaning time in half by making a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Scrub the stove top with it and you’ll be surprised how quickly your stove is sparkling clean! There are no harmful fumes to avoid and this natural cleanser won’t damage your skin.
The microwave is a boon to busy families but what a pain to clean, especially if it is mounted over your stove! Now it’s easy to clean your microwave and practically labor free. Just mix two cups of water with one tablespoon of white vinegar and pour into a big microwave safe bowl. Put it into the microwave until at least half the water evaporates. Don’t open the door for another ten minutes. When it’s time, remove the bowl wearing oven mitts so you don’t burn yourself. Now you can sprinkle a damp sponge with baking soda and wipe the inside of the microwave; any baked on debris will have been steamed off so it will wipe away easily. Give the oven a final wipe with a damp cloth and you’re left with a sparkling clean microwave!
If you have some unpleasant odors emanating from your garbage disposal, just drop some lemon pulp and some slivers of lemon peel into it and turn it on for a few seconds. All the nasty odors will be washed down the drain.
In the Bathroom
The bathroom can get pretty grimy, just because that’s where we all go to shed the dirt and cares of a busy day. Sinks and tubs are especially challenging. One of the best concoctions you can scrub a tub or sink with consists of a cup each of borax, kosher salt, and baking soda. Mix it well and store it in a jar. When it comes time to clean just sprinkle it on and wipe with a damp sponge then rinse off. It’s the easiest scrubbing you’ll ever do and you’ll love how clean it leaves your tub and sink.
Cleaning your tile or fiberglass shower stall can be tough but there’s a natural cleaner that’s up to the challenge! Fill a spray bottle with half a cup of vegetable oil based liquid soap (like Murphy’s Oil Soap, for example), 1 2/3 cups of baking soda, 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, and ½ cup of water. Shake before each use and spray on soiled area. Rinse well and you’re left with a clean, beautiful shower/tub!
Your toilet bowl will sparkle after you treat it with ¼ cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar. Let it sit for 15 minutes then scrub and flush.
Are you troubles with soap scum in the tub or shower? Just sprinkle it with baking soda and scrub with a damp cloth then rinse.
You’ll love having a naturally clean house! You won’t have to worry about pets or children being poisoned, everything will smell fresh, and if you have a septic tank you don’t have to be concerned that the cleansers will upset the natural action of the tank. Natural cleaners do a better job and cost much less than the commercial poison we’ve been buying for generations. So save money and enjoy a cleaner environment with natural cleansers!
